English@Work Project
English language classes with local information and active citizenship
Exeter CVS was a partner in the English@Work project, run by the Devon and Torbay Learning Partnership. Exeter College and Devon Adult Learning are developing an English@Work programme, a course to be delivered to migrant workers in the workplace in Exeter and the Heart of Devon area. This is being piloted first with local employers.
Exeter CVS is developing the active citizenship and community input to the programme, and also a Support Programme to complement the English@Work course. The latter will facilitate contacts in the community and with statutory and community agencies and organisations in the form of visits to the group and from the group in the community. The attached contact lists are available for tutors and others working with migrant workers, and are grouped by topics.
This pilot will run until the end of 2007.
