Partnerships

Exeter CVS works in partnership with voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations, local government and other statutory agencies to shape the delivery of services. Exeter CVS plays a key role to empower local groups to take part in partnerships and is directly involved in a wide range of regeneration, neighbourhood renewal, health and social care, learning and other government initiatives. Strategic partnerships may be regional, district wide or neighbourhood. They may cover several issues or have a particular focus.

  • Access to Benefits Implementation Group (ABIG) – A Devon wide partnership that implements better access to Benefits.
  • Carers + - A network in Devon of voluntary organisations working together with Social Services and Health to identify carers in Devon, keep in touch with services, support and receive up-to-date information, newsletters and have views heard on service development and reviews.
  • Devon Association of Councils for Voluntary Service (DACVS) - This partnership works to support the voluntary and community sector to develop and improve its contribution to the lives of local people in Devon.
  • Devon Association of Learning Providers (Devon ALPS) - A partnership of Devon VCS learning providers working together to ensure quality of service delivery and identify appropriate funding opportunities.
  • Compact for Devon Hub - The Compact for Devon Hub (the Hub) is made up of two Compact Champions from each of the nine Local Strategic Partnerships across Devon, one Champion from the voluntary and community sector and one from the statutory sector. The Hub meets regularly to develop and implement the Compact for Devon and its accompanying Codes of Practice (see www.dacvs.org.uk) and in so doing, works towards effective partnership working in Devon.
  • Devon Community Learning Partnership – A very new group consisting of learning providers from mainly the statutory and voluntary sector working together. They have a few common aims including wanting to meet the learning needs of communities of adults, whether of place or interest; and they do all want to engage new learners, which they see as an achievement in itself.
  • Devon Consortium - The Devon Consortium is a strategic management group of infrastructure organisations and is a body that has the skills, expertise, authority and mandate from voluntary and community organisations to develop, deliver and achieve strong and cohesive communities.
  • Devon Primary Care Trust - "Working in partnership to improve health and develop better health and social care services for almost three-quarters of a million people in the Devon area"
  • Devon Racial Equality Council – The Devon Racial Equality Council (Devon REC) is a registered charity, an independent and impartial membership body and is accredited by the Commission for Racial Equality which provides information and promotes equal opportunities while combating racial discrimination.
  • Devon Strategic Partnership - The Devon Strategic Partnership comprises public, private, voluntary and community sector organisations, all working together to improve the quality of life for those who live, work in and visit Devon, working towards a joint aim to be “a County with safe, healthy and inclusive communities, a strong and diverse economy and a cherished environment.”
  • Devon Training Network - To identify the training needs of Housing organisations in Devon and Cornwall, to provide, promote and facilitate affordable good quality training that meets identified need, to raise awareness of and stimulate good practice in housing related matters, to work with other agencies in a spirit of collaboration to ensure the availability of a broad range of opportunities.
  • Devon Welfare Rights Unit - DWRU provides support services to Devon organisations whose work involves advising people about entitlement to benefits. 
  • Empowering Communities, Regional Partnership - Its purpose is to improve the quality and functioning of relationships between citizens and government in the South West, and to increase the ability of people to influence the decisions which affect their lives. 
  • Exeter Children’s Trust Local Partnership – This is the partnership vehicle that brings organisations together to implement the Every Child Matters agenda which is a new approach to the well-being of children and young people from birth to age 19.
  • Exeter College - Exeter College was established in 1970 as the first tertiary college in England. The College was designed to provide all post-16 education and training provision for the City.
  • Exeter Community Forum – The public being given the opportunity to find out about the Council’s plans, such as Unitary status, and being given an opportunity to quiz the City Council and its partners like DCC, the police, fire service, Health Service, Stagecoach, and voluntary services.
  • Exeter Community Safety Partnership - The Partnership was established following the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.  This Act placed a joint responsibility on Local Authorities as well as the Police to reduce crime and disorder in local areas.
  • Exeter Social, Health & Inclusion Partnership - The Exeter Social, Health and Inclusion Partnership (formerly known as the Exeter Community Partnership) oversees the implementation of work associated with health and social inclusion issues in the city.
  • Exeter Sure Start Partnership - Sure Start Exeter works with families and their young children under 5 in Beacon Heath, Whipton, Heavitree and Polsloe to build future generations of happy, healthy and confident children.
  • Exeter Vision Partnership - The key purpose of the Partnership is to develop and work towards achieving a long-term vision for Exeter that will make a real difference to the quality of life people experience in the city.
  • Health & Social Care Strategic Review - Informed through extensive dialogue with the public and stakeholders, this review will set out future objectives and commissioning priorities for health and social care in Devon. It will build on the many positive features of existing services, as well as responding to national guidance, needs assessments and feedback from the population.

  • My Life, My Choice – Previously known as Partnerships for Older People Project (POPP) in Devon is one of the Government’s pilot areas testing new ways to improve the lives of older people, giving them greater personal control over their physical and emotional health, and enabling them to remain independent wherever possible.
  • ‘My Neighbourhood’ Exeter City Council Partnership - The 'My Neighbourhood' Partnership is led by Exeter City Council, and includes voluntary sector organisations Exeter Community Initiatives and Exeter CVS, together with Devon and Cornwall Police. The joint initiative will give people more say in the kind of activities that will help to improve their community.
  • Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities – A comprehensive training programme funded by the LSC, to facilitate Workforce Development and learning opportunities to voluntary and community sector organisations including workshops and nationally accredited courses.
  • South West Workforce Development - The Forum's key role is to be an active and dynamic influence in the region ensuring that the voluntary and community sectors are genuinely engaged in developing and influencing policy. Workforce development is about developing the people in your organisation in order to improve the way you deliver your services. It includes volunteers, paid workers and trustees.
  • SWitCH Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training - SWitch’s vision is to develop an inclusive partnership for excellence which involves the diverse range of organisations involved in Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for teachers in the learning and skills sector in the South West.
  • Third Sector Organisations (SW) and LSC - Formed to meet regularly with the LSC to discuss issues important to and relating to learning providers in the Voluntary and Community sector in the South West.
