About Exeter CVS
Exeter CVS is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee which: -
- encourages, supports and develops individuals, groups and organisations involved in voluntary action to help them work more effectively
- promotes and supports new initiatives which address areas of social inclusion, economic disadvantage and community development
- works in partnership with the public and private sectors in order to help develop a more just and caring society
We are members of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA), the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), Volunteering England and Community Matters.

- To develop the effectiveness of local voluntary and community groups by providing support services such as information, advice, volunteer development and learning opportunities
- To encourage and provide opportunities for different voluntary and community groups and organisations to work together and with other sectors
- To consult with and encourage the involvement of local voluntary and community groups to put forward their views on policies and decisions that may affect them
- To enhance the Voluntary and Community Sector’s role as an integral part of local planning and policy making
- To promote and develop volunteering with individuals and volunteer involving organisations
- To act to sustain and develop our own organisation
- To identify emerging service needs, identify gaps in delivery and support initiatives to address these
Our Key Areas of Work
- Influencing
strategies policies and delivery plans, based on our experience of working with local communities, our track record of delivery and service user involvement, and a passion for effective outcomes
- Advocating
for the voluntary and community sector (as a whole or for sub-sectors), for the communities we work with and for under-represented and marginalised groups; drawing attention to needs and suggesting ways of meeting them
- Providing
services to member organisations, voluntary and community groups, volunteers, service users, carers and partner agencies funded through grants, service level agreements and contracts
- Building Social Capital
to develop the skills of individuals, voluntary and community groups, and communities; enabling community involvement and supporting volunteering
- Partnership
working together with voluntary and community groups, local government, other public sector agencies and the private sector to develop responses and solutions to improve the quality of life for all

Exeter CVS is grant aided by:



This funding is enhanced by other income generating activities including training, project management, payroll services and investments. Additional funding has been attracted from a range of government departments, charitable trusts and private sector sponsorship in order to make the best use of local statutory services' funding.
